Get involved with BBSC!

Join the Crew at Batemans Bay Sailing Club!

Thank you for your interest in the Batemans Bay Sailing Club (BBSC)!

We’re thrilled to see so many sailing enthusiasts eager to get involved. While we currently have 5-7 boats actively participating in keel boat races, each with established crews, we want to ensure that your experience with us is positive and fulfilling. Our off-the-beach sailing fleet usually has more than 10 boats. We also have an active and engaged social community!

Why Join BBSC?

At Batemans Bay Sailing Club, we’re more than just a sailing club; we’re a community. Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or new to the sport, there’s a place for you here. Engage with fellow members, participate in social events, and enjoy the beautiful waters of Batemans Bay.

We appreciate your enthusiasm and look forward to welcoming you to our sailing family.

Ways You Can Get Involved with the Club:

  • Become a Social Member: Join our club as a social member! This is a fantastic way to connect with fellow sailing enthusiasts, participate in club events, and stay informed about all things sailing at BBSC. As a social member, you’ll be the first to know about opportunities to crew as they arise. More information on our social membership and events page.

  • Join Our Newsletter: Subscribe to our newsletter to receive updates on club activities, training sessions, and any openings for crew positions. This is a great way to stay engaged and informed about the sailing community at BBSC.

  • Sail in off-the-beach races: Our off-the-beach sailing series at Lake Coila has provision for one Spiral and one Laser dinghy to be booked in advance of Sunday races. As a BBSC sailing club member, you can contact Alan Rees (0417 400 892) by 1000 on the Friday before a race weekend to access these boats. Otherwise if you have a catamaran or dinghy already, come down and be fully rigged in time for the 1100 briefing.

  • Express Your Interest: If you have a boat and wish to participate in our events, or are interested in obtaining a boat, we encourage you to get involved! Having additional boats and crew members enhances our sailing community and creates more opportunities for everyone. Consider joining the club as a Sailing Member – more information here.

  • Waitlist for Crew Positions: If you’re specifically looking to crew on one of our boats, please let us know! We maintain a list of interested individuals and will reach out as opportunities become available. Please note that spots are limited, and we appreciate your understanding.

To participate as a crew member or Skipper in any of our sailing events, you must have an Australian Sailing number through a current sailing club membership or with a temporary SailPass.

As a condition of entry and participation in Batemans Bay Sailing Club events, it is also the responsibility of each boat owner/skipper to ensure that they and every crew member sailing with them understands and signs the Club Risk Warning and Acknowledgement (Indemnity Agreement).

If you have any questions or would like to express your interest, please fill out our contact form, and we’ll be in touch!
